What Y.A.R.S do…
“Creating positive change through interaction and activities in the lives of young disabled adults” - Y.A.R.S day centre is now based at The Old Schoolhouse Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. Here they ride themselves on their commitment to running an activity based day centre.
AIM
The aim of this group is to offer a service in the community and group residential breaks, to the young disabled adults (ages 18-35) in Merseyside. The aim was to have a service specifically for young adults, a group usually caught between children and adult services. To get in contact with Y.A.R.S click here.
HISTORY
Initially the founders of Y.A.R.S used to run disability projects in Knowsley for disabled children and young people. The parents asked if they would set up a service that worked with their children when they became adults, and along came Y.A.R.S. Since June 2021 they now have the day centre located at the Old Schoolhouse.

Y.A.R.S run a number of activities weekly such as; football, boxing, cinema trips, bowling, pool/snooker, cooking, English & Maths, swimming and attending a disco. They also run a monthly respite break where they visit different locations for their young adults. To find out more, click here.
