Lunchtime Socials
Our Lunchtime Socials were set up with the primary aim of providing a regular social event for local residents who, for whatever reason, may have few opportunities to get out and mix with other people.
A freshly, on-site prepared, two course meal is offered, along with entertainment.
While the importance of eating well, and engaging with others is obvious, we have a secondary aim. That is to make it easier for individuals to raise any issues they may have, either personally or about the area.
We have had visits from a local councillor, and community police support officers who have ‘mingled’ with the guests. This informal approach allows a more relaxed atmosphere in which residents are able to raise these issues.
Our hope is to make such visits a more regular part of the afternoon. We also hope to bring in other agencies to raise awareness of their services, and so improve links with local people.
